[ WOW IT'S THE BEACH. yves is loving it here! he's rolled up the cuffs of his pants and pushed up his sleeves, abandoning his coat to just welcome the sweet spray of the ocean. he inhales the next sea breeze that comes, and hums softly to himself as he exhales. looking out at the big ocean, he talks to himself - or to someone not quite here ]

It's almost like home... I hope you're not too mad at me for going ahead, Hugo.

[ though when he notices someone approaching, he'll turn and offer up a grin ]

Oh, hey! Have we met yet? I'm Yves.

[ at least chrono is spared from the immediate hug because they haven't met! yves is just offering his hand out for a handshake hello ]

[ finally bought some shorts and a beach tee, chrono is just wading through the shallows as well. it'd been a little while since he'd visited the beach before dying.

he didn't mean to break this guy's introspection, but... unbothered?? apparently?? he accepts the handshake only slightly bewildered. ]

Hey, I'm Chrono. I don't think we've met, nah.

[noirges]

[ you're just a little guy, chrono!! ]

Are you settling in okay? It's really a lot to take in here, huh?

Yeah. And things just... keep on happenin'.

[ gestures around them. whole ass beach that wasn't here before. ]

[noirges]

[ laughs lightly ]

But it's a pretty fun 'happening', right?

Do you like the beach?

[clockpunk]

Yeah, I do. Lots of good memories on the beach.

[ he glances at yves, smiling vaguely. ]

Y'know, it's kinda nice to see someone so high-energy despite everythin'.

[noirges]

[ oh? he looks a little confused, but it's in a good-natured way ]

You think? If it helps, then I'm happy to provide.

I know it can be a lot to think about... [ death and redemption and the afterlife ] but at least we're all together for it.

week 4, tuesday morning

[ where are we? out in the wild! it's probably the ballroom as yves is admiring the grandeur of it all with very much country bumpkin energy. oh to be a lil fish out of water in such a grand place

and when he sees chrono, his mood immediately lifts into fondness and friendship ]

Chrono! What brings you out here? Know how to dance?

[clockpunk]

[ ballroom! it's pretty! despite his own humble origins he has actually been in one of these a few times before, so he has something to compare it to (this one isn't quite as nice).

oh. nice feeling. chrono smiles at yves, his enthusiam literally contagious, his own emotions not as strong but still very much positive. ]

Hi, Yves. Jus' taking a look. [ .......grimaces. ] No. Apparently I've got two left feet.

[noirges]

[ he just laughs ]

What? Who told you that? Sounds like a story to me.

[clockpunk]

My friend Shion. He's stupidly rich so his family hosts all these fancy parties, and sometimes he invites me jus' to watch me struggle, I'm pretty sure.

[ this is only half a joke. their friendship is just like that. ]

So he'll get me to dance with him, and then complain about it.

[noirges]

What, really?

[ he laughs, amused ]

My partner's from a noble family too, so I think I understand—but I've never gone to any of his family's parties.

Sounds like you've got a friend with a sense of humor, though!

[ curious! partner or... partner...

snorts indignantly. ]

Oh yeah, bet he thinks he's real funny. I'll keep goin' just for the food, anyway.

week 5, thursday

[ [ honestly yves is still keeping a fair distance from anyone he hasn't interacted with directly after the whole midtrial thing, but he is friendly enough about it still. today is so bizarre! he's leaving after checking on laurence and nods at chrono ]

You doing okay?

[clockpunk]

[ he's hanging around anxiously, as if unsure how he should approach dealing with any of this.

yves makes him jump a little. ]

Ah- uh, well...

[ no ]

[ hmmm ]

... do you want to talk about it? Or I can just let you see Laurence if you'd rather it not be with me...

[clockpunk]

...no. I've wanted to talk to you, anyway.

[ he breathes in, cautious. ]

I don't blame you for it, at all. I know it was difficult for you, too.

[noirges]

[ . . . ah. he pauses for a moment before smiling softly ]

... you're really kind, Chrono. Thank you.

I do believe you... but I also think that as kids, you all shouldn't have had to see it. It's okay to still have complicated feelings about it.

[clockpunk]

Please don't treat me like a child, Yves. You're not that much older than me. It's not the first time I've seen someone die.

[ it's firm, but with little bite. ]

It's not like it hasn't affected my feelings, but... I get it. I'm sorry it had to be you.

week 7, monday

[ YIPPEE EVERYONE'S BACK!! yves is exploring again and honestly marveling at how bad all the areas are,,,,

but when he sees chrono he just grins ]

Hey Chrono. Not to spring a question on you or anything, but should I be expecting to see you in mine and Laurence's room every now and then?

[ lol ]

[ this would probably be back near home then bc chrono is not messing with any of that today

not that it stops him from wanting to die on the spot apparently. the question is so utterly direct that it takes a second from him to actually comprehend it. but. he goes completely crimson anyway. ]

Yves!!

[ he just laughs ]

I'm not even asking to tease entirely this time! [ entirely. this time. ] I just want to make sure I understand the context of my own room!

[ OH TO HAVE ROOMMATES AGAIN ]

[ THIS TIME?? ]

Wh- huh-- I mean, that's not...!!

[ oh mortifying. like he did kind of bring this upon himself with that tiny implication written in that letter but it's different to be shot with it frame fucking one of a pc

despite the shock and embarrassment there's a liiittle thread of something warm in this emotional feedback. ]

[ chrono really shouldn't have told him... yves is well-meaning always but the embarrassment is cute. he just grins ]

I just hope you're both happy.

That's the most important thing, and also minimizing future embarrassments for all three of us.

[ he BARELY said anything it was more just to keep yves guessing with ideas that might make him happy after all of that...

chrono almost responds normally but then yves tacks on that last comment and he just has to back up and lean against a wall with his face in his hands. help ]
